Blue Lough Tour Sunday 12th June 2016
Join us for this fantastic walk where you will hear the history of the Binnian Tunnel, see how the Mourne Granite was cut using hand tools and visit the Smugglers cave.
The walk is approx 5 miles long mostly on rough tracks and is suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness, the tour will take about four and a half hours which will include time for a packed lunch (not included).
Price £16 per person Booking essential.

NAVIGATION COURSE SUNDAY 3rd MAY 2015                                                                        This Navigation Course is ideal for anyone who is new to mountain navigation or for those who want to brush up on their skills. There will be a short theory session over a cup of coffee and a scone to start with and then we will spend about 4 hours on the hills . Topics will include setting the map, timing, pacing and learning how to use a compass. You will need to have your own compass and map and we can advise on the best type to choose. Sunday 28th December 2014 Guided walk to The Blue Lough in The Mournes. Experience the beauty of The Mourne Mountains while your Geo Ambassador Guide leads you to the Smugglers Cave explaining some of the Geology, Mythology and Archaeology of the area. We will also have some of the old Plug and Feathers used to cut the Mourne Granite by hand and demonstrate how they were used. The walk will start from Carrick Little car park on the Head Road at 10am everyone to meet at 9.45am the walk will take approx. 4 hours. This is a lovely walk taking in some great views (weather permitting) of the Annalong Valley. we will be guiding a walk to The Blue Lough in the Mournes as part of Mourne Cooley Gullion Geotourism Week ,there is no charge for this event, to book please email peter@walkthemournes.com or call 07974768831.  The walk will start from Carrick Little car park on the Head Road at 10am everyone to meet at 9.45am. This is a lovely walk taking in some great views (weather permitting) of the Annalong Valley. A description of the Blue Lough walk can be found on our website under Walks in The Mournes. After the walk soup,  sandwiches and tea and a bun will be provided free at The Mourne Lodge in Atticall.  A list of recommended kit will be provided on booking with proper footwear being a must, unfortunately no dogs permitted on the walk.src=

6th-10th Nov 2014 the Walkthemournes Team in Wales to attend  CPD courses on Teaching Navigation and Scrambling run by Mountain Traning Association at Plas y Brenin The National Mountain Centre, hope to get a couple of quality walks in as well.

Sunday 14th September 2014 at 10am we will be running a Basic Navigation Course at Leitrim Lodge in The Mourne Mountains. Cost £15 limited to a maximum of 6 people. This course is suitable for the complete beginner or the ideal way to brush up your skills. Email peter@walkthemournes.com to book or for more info.
