The Diamond Rocks Walk

The Diamond Rocks Walk

SONY DSC

This is our most popular trip which has fantastic views (weather permitting) of the Brandy Pad, Ben Crom Reservoir and Slieve Bernagh.

The Diamond Rocks is a small area where specimens of Topaz, Beryl and Quartz can be viewed. On the way to the Diamond Rocks we will learn about the plants and animals that inhabit the Mournes and visit sites where the Mourne Granite was cut by hand into kerbstones and setts and find out about the tools used.

We will also cross the famous Mourne Wall and learn the history of when and how it was built. On our return to base we will pass through the Hare’s Gap and if the weather is kind to us the views will stretch as far as Slieve Croob.
